The story of Hewan Spice begins with the legacy of a resilient Ethiopian mother, Woyzero Elfnesh Moges. To support her family, she spent grueling days manually crushing spices on a traditional stone grinder (Yedengay Wefcho), humming rhythmic local melodies as she worked. Her strength and persistence became the foundation of our company.

Watching her mother’s sacrifices, our founder and Managing Director, Hewan Kelemework, vowed to carry this beautiful culinary lineage forward. Today, that childhood promise has evolved into an international brand that brings uncompromised, pure Ethiopian flavors to global shelves while proudly supporting local agricultural communities and creating vital jobs.
